So we are hours away from a government shut down which could have been completely avoided had the dems voted back in Oct. when they had complete control of the house and the senate. As a lowly observer I have been on the fence over how I feel about this whole situation. But as the final hour approaches I say go Republicans! It's about time we stop allowing the dems to play strong arm politics.

I am sick and tired of Obama and company using the term "playing politics" whenever it suits them. Who was playing politics back in Oct when they were too scared of losing elections to pass a budget? Who was playing politics when they rammed a 3000 page health care bill down the throat of America with mere hours to review? Who is playing politics by claiming the budget comes down to a group of republicans trying to take away women's rights to health care? Seriously Harry? You put on a good drama this morning talking about your children and grandchildren and how the republicans are trying to take away their right to health care. But, let me ask you this, isn't that why you slammed Obamacare down our throats? I thought Obamacare was going to fix everything. Now you're telling me that I need to be paying into planned parenthood? And what about medicare?

70% of planned parenthood's services go towards STD treatment and prevention, and contraception. Only around 20% goes towards cancer screening and health services. And I believe that doesn't even include mammograms. Now, because of the republicans pulling out funding at a time when spending is through the roof, your grandchildren won't get annual screening for cancer? Sounds like someone is "playing politics".

The truth of the matter is that if the republicans give in now they will never be able to talk the dems into cutting spending at any kind of significant level. I say shut it down! The dems love to talk about making sacrifices by raising taxes when it suits them, but when the republicans try to cut spending they are "playing politics". I believe this is the time to establish the rules of the game and call their bluff. If it doesn't happen now, then it will be at least another year and a half of strong arm politics, increased spending, and "Big Government".

The founding father's intended for the government to exist for the purpose of national security and to aid in resolution of differences between states. I propose we go back to the basics and greatly reduce our deficit by selling off a large number of government agencies to private organizations. Do we really believe that the post office is going to shut down if the government no longer runs it? Will planned parenthood close it's doors if the government pulls funding? No, in fact, it will most likely run more efficiently. The dems have spent years convincing us that we need government programs. Ask yourself how many people do you know who actually use these programs and if they do what would they do if the program no longer existed or was no longer controlled by the government. My guess is become more self sufficient and I don't think that's a bad thing at all.
